(Posted by: Kimberly R on 2010-03-10 08:21:25)
I have a room- mate that empties the leftover coffee into an empty creamer container(3)- lets them sit out over night, in am brews more coffee/ adding the left over coffee/ he does this over & over than he expects me to hav coffee w/ him; before I realized his system eh hmm; I drank his coffee- became nausious, unstable digestive lets just say- I was sick to my stoach for days- I have asked him not to add old coffee to fresh brewed/ he snuck it in this am said he was taking coffee 'out' of coffee pot- he lied to me/ I wont have coffee with him ever again, but how do I get thru to him- his running to the bathroom has something to do with his filthy greedy no coffee throwing away foolish ways? |

I think it is best fresh, but I will take day old coffee and microwave it to a boil and drink it. It does not taste as good as a fresh pot, but a pot of coffee is too much to drink, so I would recommend that you share with him when the pot is first brewed, but only then. |

It's probably more to do with the way he's storing it than anything else...a used creamer container and leaving it sit out for days...why not refrigerate in some sort of glass container then it would be fine, it's not likely that the coffee is going bad, but the excess creamer is probably souring. |

No, because it is not fresh anymore. Fresh coffee is the best. |

It's really no good to drink old coffee. It can reform coffee grinds on the sides and just make it taste terrible. You should tell him about that when he runs to the bathroom it's because of this gross old coffee! -Giana |

You can stand tall on this one. Meeting you will do the person some good. Explain that is it honorable to save money, but find another way. Don't ruin the enjoyment of a fresh pot of coffee in the morning. Very few people can drink 24 hour old coffee. Instill this in your roomate and make them a better person. As for myself, I buy a 5 pound bag of roasted coffee beans (Columbian Supremo) for around $20 and grind a small handful every morning for a really good cup of coffee. I'm not rich, and it's the best deal I could find. It's much better than Folgers which is better than most store bought brands. A 5 pound bag lasts for a few months so I buy 3 or 4 at a time, and it lasts a year or longer. $80 divided by 12 months = $6.75 a month for very good coffee every morning. That's how it is done in my house. (I'm poor as poop by the way, but I have a great pot of coffee every morning.) Your roommate who wants to save a dollar every month by using old coffee has taken it too far. Have a good one. ccmcoffee.com/ index.php?cPath= 22 |

Not only is this foolish this is extremely dangerous. First off you do not marry product. Second there is no safe and sanitary container in which he stores the product. Also the product is not refrigerated to slow bacteria growth. I am certain the bacteria levels are unsafe. DO Not Drink Anymore Of This. |

It's not fresh. I work at Starbucks and we have to pour out coffee every 30 minutes! Just don't have coffee with him. Tell him it's not fresh. It's kind of his problem so just make your own tea instead or make your own coffee separately. Don't feel bad, he's the one being strange. |

I drink day old coffee sometimes. But I have an iron stomach that can take alot. It doesn't taste very good though. And after a day I would bet some mold or bacteria is starting to grow in that staunchy brew your friend has. |
